Why We Build on BSV (And Why You Should Too)
Let's cut through the marketing nonsense.
Every blockchain project claims:
- ✅ Lightning-fast transactions
- ✅ Infinitely scalable
- ✅ Pennies in fees
- ✅ Ready for enterprise
Most are lying.
We've built production systems on Ethereum, Solana, and Bitcoin SV. We've hit the limits. We've paid the bills. We've debugged the disasters.
Here's what we learned: There's fast, there's cheap, and there's BSV. Everything else is a compromise you'll regret.
The Three Metrics That Actually Matter
When you're building real products—not PoCs or marketing demos—three things determine whether a blockchain works:
Transaction Cost - What it costs to do anything useful.
Throughput - How many transactions the chain can actually handle.
Finality - How fast transactions are irreversible.
Everything else (decentralization philosophy, consensus mechanisms, token economics) is either irrelevant or marketing.
Let's compare.
The Real Numbers
Ethereum
- Cost: $2-$50 per transaction (depending on network congestion)
- Throughput: ~15 transactions per second
- Finality: 12-15 minutes (sometimes longer)
Reality check: You cannot build a consumer product on Ethereum mainnet. The fees make it economically impossible. Layer 2s help, but add complexity, security assumptions, and fragmentation.
Solana
- Cost: $0.001 per transaction (when it works)
- Throughput: 2,000-3,000 TPS (real, not theoretical)
- Finality: 13 seconds (when the network is up)
Reality check: Solana goes down. A lot. Multiple full network outages in 2022-2023. Your users don't care about high TPS if the chain is offline. "Move fast and break things" is a bad philosophy for financial infrastructure.
Bitcoin SV (BSV)
- Cost: $0.0001-$0.001 per transaction
- Throughput: Unbounded (proven 50,000+ TPS in testing, no theoretical limit)
- Finality: Near-instant (0-conf safe for most use cases)
Reality check: BSV is boring. No hype. No VCs. No billion-dollar token pumps. Just working infrastructure that scales. Which is exactly what you want when building real products.
Why BSV Wins for Builders
Costs That Don't Bankrupt You
Building repository tokenization on Ethereum would cost $50 per token minted. At that price, nobody tokenizes anything.
On BSV? $0.001 per token.
This isn't a 10x difference. It's a 50,000x difference. That changes what's economically viable.
Real example from our stack:
- Storing GitHub repo metadata on-chain
- Ethereum: $500-$2,000 (depending on data size)
- BSV: $0.10-$0.50
We can afford to inscribe full repository metadata on BSV. On Ethereum, we'd have to use IPFS and pray it stays available.
Throughput That Doesn't Choke
"Unbounded scalability" sounds like marketing BS. But BSV actually delivers it.
How? Simple: Bigger blocks.
- Bitcoin Core: 1-2 MB blocks
- Ethereum: ~90 KB blocks (seriously)
- BSV: No limit (tested up to 4 GB blocks)
This isn't theoretical. BSV has processed sustained loads that would crash Ethereum or Solana.
Why this matters:
- No "gas price bidding wars" during high demand
- Predictable costs for your business
- No "the chain is congested" excuses to users
Finality You Can Trust
On Bitcoin SV, transactions confirm in seconds. More importantly, 0-conf transactions are safe for most use cases because of how BSV's incentive structure works.
This means:
- Near-instant user experience
- No "waiting for confirmations" UX disasters
- Real-time applications actually work
Compare to Ethereum (15 minutes for finality) or Bitcoin Core (60+ minutes for safety). BSV just works.
The Technical Advantages Nobody Talks About
Data Storage
BSV treats the blockchain as a data ledger, not just a financial ledger. You can store arbitrary data cheaply.
Use cases:
- Immutable audit logs
- Timestamped documents
- Metadata for NFTs/tokens
- Application state (if you're creative)
On Ethereum, data storage is prohibitively expensive. On BSV, it's a feature.
Original Bitcoin Script
BSV uses the original Bitcoin script language (pre-2010, before Core crippled it).
What this enables:
- Complex smart contracts without bloated VMs
- Efficient, deterministic execution
- Lower attack surface than Ethereum's Solidity
No, it's not Turing complete. That's a feature, not a bug. Turing completeness in smart contracts is how you get $150M hacks (looking at you, DAO).
Micropayments That Work
BSV's low fees make actual micropayments viable.
Want to charge $0.01 for an API call? BSV can do it. Ethereum? Your fee is 100x the payment amount.
This unlocks business models that are impossible on other chains:
- Pay-per-use APIs
- Microtransactions in games
- Fractionalized access to content
The Objections
"But BSV isn't decentralized!"
Define decentralized. Ethereum has massive mining pools. Solana requires $500K hardware to run a validator. BSV has large-scale miners processing transactions efficiently.
What matters: Can the network be censored? Can it be stopped? BSV's answer is the same as Bitcoin's: No.
"Craig Wright is associated with it!"
We don't care about personalities. We care about infrastructure that works. If you're making technical decisions based on Twitter drama, you're not a serious builder.
"Nobody uses BSV!"
China used to "not use" Bitcoin. Then it became the world's manufacturing powerhouse.
Early adoption of superior technology is where outsized returns come from. BSV's low transaction costs and high throughput make it ideal for applications that don't work elsewhere.
"What about smart contracts?"
BSV has smart contracts. They're just not marketed as aggressively. sCrypt, RUN, and other frameworks provide programmability without Ethereum's complexity.
